Annual Report 2021

In 2021, the Youth Time International Movement faced one of the biggest challenges than anyone could have anticipated.

The year began with hope and positive expectations, but plans were set back by the risks of the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Corona-19. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, we were forced to cancel the Youth Global Forum 2021 shortly before it was scheduled to start in Doha, Qatar.

We started work on our two main annual events of the year, anticipating that we could continue our efforts to help Youth to become inspired and take up their role of making a positive impact. However, while new relationships were being formed and events were being planned, these plans ran up against the roadblock of shifting regulations that changed the routines of travel and everyday existence.

Nevertheless, early in the year we were lucky to organize our annual Summer School. This year, in Belgrade, Serbia, in partnership with Erasmus+ and other organizations around Europe, we brought together 50 participants for a six-day event of learning, discussion, and speaking with experts. The theme of this year’s Summer School was Media Information & Literacy. Topics ranged from misinformation and disinformation to effective regulation, to techniques for spotting fake news and propaganda, all taught through workshops, master classes, and keynote speeches. Along with the educational program we included an excursion, city walks, cultural events, networking, and much more! This one-of-a-kind event tackled the media minefield of today’s society and simultaneously allowed participants to experience the incredible city of Belgrade.

Throughout 2021, we continually organized webinars and created podcasts. We focused on topics like: Future Skills for Workplace Sustainability; Social Innovation for Systems Change and Sustainable Development: A conversation with Reminded Futures; The impact of Strategic Communications in Business Sustainability, and many more.
