Space and the future of humanity

Orbiting the Earth in the spaceship, I saw how beautiful our planet is. People, let us preserve and increase this beauty, not destroy it!”, YURI GAGARIN

The Youth Time movement believes in the creation of a positive image of the future and its implementation. In the first instance, future is a time scale in our lives, but it’s also very closely linked to the spatial dimension. By encouraging young people to expand their understanding of the world and of its dynamics, we will realize that we need knowledge not only for our daily life, but also to have an overview of the processes occurring on a planetary scale.

Space exploration began 50 years ago, on April 12th, 1961, when Yuri Gagarin went on the the first space exploration mission, aboard the spacecraft Vostok-1, and became the first man to see our planet from the outer space. Today, the world globalization is a popular topic of discussions, but when looking from space, it’s very easy to understand the simple fact that our planet is, in its nature, a whole and a single organism following cosmic laws of day and night, winter and summer. Each student is familiar with the phenomenon called the water cycle. Therefore, the link between the fate of men and our surrounding environment becomes extremely apparent.

By organizing the International Competition of the concept: “Space and the future of mankind”, we have sought, to consciously approach the possible future of humanity and, for that purposed, we proposed to young people to express their vision of the future transportation, habitat and clothing as well as of the overall organization of the “new society”, in a visual or a written form. In our opinion, the competition was a great success. In total, we received more than 400 papers on the topic, of which, we selected the top 50 authors, representing a group of 14 countries.
